My name is Daniyaal Anawar. In the summer of 2024, I achieved 90% in Edexcel A Level Further Maths. For options, I did FP1 and FP2. I worked extremely hard.

Here's exactly how I did it.

1) Diagnostics

Firstly, I watched Mr Bicen's ”Everything You Need to Memorise” series to refresh my knowledge.

• This covers every bit of knowledge you need for the exam (in theory, enough for 100%)

MadasMaths has difficult IYGB practice papers covering the entire Further Maths spec:

• Synthesis Papers (covering Y1 and Y2 pure content): Madas
• Alternatively, you can find just Year 1, just Year 2, and separate module papers on his website.

I completed these papers and noted questions/topics I struggled with, identifying my strengths and weaknesses.

2) Understanding

For topics I struggled with, I watched TLMaths videos on YouTube.

• R2Drew2 was also amazing for Further Maths.

When watching videos, I'd try to complete the examples before seeing them do it.

• This deepened my understanding of the method and made it more fun.

I also DID NOT take notes — people sometimes do this mindlessly, and it detracts from actual learning.

• YouTube has excellent videos deriving ideas from FM — watching them really helped cement my understanding.

• PMT has highly useful cheat sheets for every topic, organising content with worked examples
  • I used to look at these just before my exam!
